How I promoted myself on social media platforms

It’s been a while since I have been promoting myself on various social media websites. When you’re in business by yourself or searching for a career, the thought of selling yourself may not sound like something that worries you. But it’s a talent everybody has to learn. Understand the basics and you’ll be able to put yourself as an expert.

People often think your only aim is to promote themselves and hence forget about everything else.

Consider this, when you go to a networking event, do people just stand there and push business cards over your face? No right?

If your complete focus is to promote yourself, you will eventually get tired.

And guess what? People will get tired of you too. No one likes constant advertisements.

What you can do instead is focus on helping people. People will come to you to enquire about your services thinking you’re eligible.

Over the past few months, I have been promoting my website on LinkedIn, Quora, and medium.com.

In this article, I’ll explain how I did it.

I started searching for questions related to my services and answered them. At the end of each answer, I used to give a CTA(call to action). This encouraged the readers to visit my website or YouTube channel.

Basically, I helped people by answering their doubts. As I mentioned above, help them and they will come to you on their own.

After a few answers, people started asking questions on their own which made my task easy and I stopped searching for questions related to my services.

I used to observe the rank of my answer among various other answers.

In the beginning, I did not catch the technique on how to improve my answer’s ranking but gradually I started catching it.

Here are the few things I did to improve my Quora answer ranking:-

· Add pictures

· Make the answer lengthy

· Don’t write paragraphs (I will explain what I mean by this later in this article)

· Bold out the important parts and make it easy for users to go through.

I used to post short stories on LinkedIn related to my services which includes

· Stories

· Case studies

· Trend jacking

· Voice your opinion

I wrote around these topics keeping it readable.

What do I mean by keeping it readable?

Keeping readable means to avoid paragraphs.

Notice how I am writing the content under the “LinkedIn Posts” section.

Even if the content is big, we can write it in this way to avoid paragraphs.

Readers like to read in this format because it doesn’t look a big chunk to read.

Some tips:-

· Keep it simple and short

· #tags do the magic

· Never copy

· Mention relevant people

· Post between 9 am-2 pm.

I used to write content around the services I provide. I usually took topic reference from the content I posted on my YouTube channel.

Before posting the content I make sure my content is 100% original with no grammatical errors. These 2 are the biggest enemies for a successful article.
